Boosting Your Business Brand

Posted on 1 May, 2019 by Lyndsey Segal in Business Coaching

Branding is one of the most important elements of any business, so an effective business brand strategy is essential in making your business stand out from the crowd.

Branding is not just your logo. Personal Brand is what people say about you when you aren’t around!

An effective brand strategy is what, how, where, when and to whom you communicate your brand message.

Here are 3 brand building steps to help.

1) Define your brand

This is your business identity – the way in which you define your business to yourself, your team and your clients/customers.

  • What is your company’s mission?
  • What problems do you solve for your customers and what value do you add for them?
  • What are the benefits and features of your products or services?
  • How do you differentiate from your competitors? By understanding what you are good at will help you to stand out.

2) Communicate your brand

Write your brand statement

What are the key messages and key words you want to communicate about your business?

Consistently use these in your elevator pitch, across your website, social media bios and posts.

Distil this down to the tightest version you can in two parts:

  • The benefits of what you do
  • The outcome for your customers

Create your brand ‘tone of voice’ – is it formal, informal, conversational? Be consistent!

Develop a tagline – Write a concise and memorable statement that captures the essence of your brand.

Your logo – this is your brand’s trademark and should appear consistently on your website, social media posts, business cards and promotional materials. It should be simple and easy to remember.

3) Promote your brand

Choose the most relevant social media platforms to connect, engage and grow your audience.

Pick platforms where your customers are or are likely to be.

Blogging is a great opportunity for you to ‘find your voice’, showcase your expertise and create strong SEO content.

Networking, partnerships and collaborations are great ways to promote your brand to a wider audience and receive recommendations and referrals.

Final thoughts

It’s important to communicate a consistent message, which will help your clients and customers build trust in your brand.

Your brand will evolve as your business evolves, so ensure you keep your brand relevant and updated to reflect your current offering.
