Spring-clean your business: 5 refreshing ways to reset and refocus

Posted on 2 March, 2026 by Lyndsey Segal in Business Coaching

Spring is the season of fresh starts, warmer weather and spring-cleaning!

Like a home, your business accumulates mess and clutter over time. Giving your business a spring-clean will help you reset and focus on what is important.

Here are 5 ways to spring-clean your business to help you reset and refocus this Spring:

1. Spring-clean your goals

March is a good time to review your Q1 goals and set new goals for Q2.

These 5 questions can help:

  1. What have I achieved so far?
  2. What are my priorities and next steps?
  3. What support do I need?

2. Spring-clean your website

Spring is a good time to carry out a website review – to ensure your website is up-to-date and communicating your current products and services effectively.

Check for these 3 things:

  1. Does it explain what you do and who you help clearly?
  2. Is it intuitive and easy to navigate around?
  3. Is it easy for customers to book or buy from you?

3. Spring-clean your meetings

Meetings have a way of multiplying. A weekly check-in here, a monthly review there and before long, your calendar is so packed with recurring commitments that you barely have time to do your actual work.

You will likely find some meetings could be cut entirely, some could move from weekly to biweekly and some could be replaced by a quick summary email.

Every meeting should have a clear agenda sent in advance, a defined outcome(s) and a list of action items.

Getting intentional about your meetings isn’t just about saving time; it signals to your collaborators and team that everyone’s time is valued.

4. Spring-clean your emails

Spring is a great time to tackle your inbox and improve your email management

Apply the 4 Ds of Do, Delegate, Defer and Delete to your inbox to help you prioritise and focus on your most important work.

If there are emails sitting in your inbox that represent tasks you haven’t gotten to, either action them, forward them, or move them into a task management system.

Unsubscribe from anything you delete or never read such as newsletters, promotional lists and software updates.

5. Spring-clean your workspace

Whether you work from a home office, a shared space or a traditional office, your physical environment has a significant impact on your mood, focus and productivity.

Give your workspace a spring-clean by cleaning your surfaces and screens.

Get rid of anything you don’t use. File, recycle or shred paperwork.

Keep only essential items on your desk. Store items in the top drawer of your desk or a nearby box or shelf. Remember “A tidy desk is a tidy mind.”

Then take a step back and think about whether your workspace is set up to help you do your best work.

Is everything you reach for often within easy reach?

Are your chair and screens at a comfortable height?

Is there enough light?

Remove anything that creates visual clutter or distractions.

Add some plants or fresh spring flowers to your desk or workspace for a Spring boost.

This is a good time to carry out some digital decluttering too. Go through folders and files and rename, reorganise or remove unnecessary documents. This will help free up physical, as well as mental space.

If you manage a team, encourage everyone to do the same. Clear out Downloads folders, organise shared drives, archive old Slack channels. These will make a surprising difference to how your team operates.

Spring-cleaning your business is about clearing away the accumulated clutter — the outdated goals, the old website copy, the unnecessary meetings, the inbox chaos, the messy desk or workspace — so that your work that matters can breathe. This will help you reset, refocus and spring into action this Spring!
