5 ways to spring-clean your business and boost your productivity this Spring

Posted on 1 March, 2024 by Lyndsey Segal in Business Coaching

Spring cleaning isn’t just about clearing out your wardrobe or kitchen cupboards. It has several benefits for your business, as well as your home.

Giving your business a spring-clean will help you focus on what is important, give your business a breath of fresh air and boost your productivity.

Here are 5 ways you can spring-clean your business and boost your productivity this Spring:

1. Spring-clean your business planning

It is easy to ‘set it and forget it’ when it comes to your business goals.

Spring is a great time of year to revisit your goals, review your progress and identify your next steps.

These 5 questions can help:

  1. What have I achieved so far?
  2. What are my next priorities?
  3. Are my goals still relevant? Do I need to set new goals?
  4. What are my next action steps?
  5. What support do I need?

2. Spring-clean your website

Your business will probably have changed or evolved since last year.

Spring is a good time to ensure your website is up-to-date and showcasing your current products and services.

Does your copy or images need updating to align more closely with your target audience?

Check for these 3 things:

  1. Does your website easily show your core (or new) products and services and how you help?
  2. Is it intuitive and easy to navigate around?
  3. Is it easy for customers to book or buy from you?

3. Spring-clean your email

An organised and clutter-free inbox will help you focus on your most important work.

Rules and folders will keep low-priority messages from interrupting your workflow throughout the day.

Cancel subscriptions and unsubscribe from unwanted newsletters and blogs.

While you are clearing out your inbox, you may want to do some other digital decluttering.

Go through folders and files on your computer and rename, reorganise or remove unnecessary documents. This will help free up physical, as well as mental space.

4. Spring-clean your workspace

Decluttering your physical and digital workspaces will create a feeling of order and bring more clarity and calm to your working environment.

As the saying goes, “A tidy desk is a tidy mind.”

Keep only essential items on your desk. Store your frequently used items in the top drawer of your desk or a nearby box or shelf.

Remove anything that creates visual clutter or distractions.

File paperwork into folders or an in-tray.

Add some plants or fresh spring flowers to your desk or workspace for a Spring boost.

5. Spring-clean your mindset

Mindset is key to productivity.

As Henry Ford’s saying goes “Whether you think you can or think you can’t – you’re right.”

Turn your niggles of self-doubt into ‘I can’ affirmations.

Build positive and productive habits and let go of habits that are not serving you.

Think about where you are spending time within your business.

Do these areas energise you or drain you?

Do they bring you closer to your goals?

Spring-cleaning your business will help you focus on what matters, helping you to be more organised, energised and productive. This will help spring your business into action this Spring!
