5 ways to spring clean your business

Posted on 4 April, 2022 by Lyndsey Segal in Business Coaching

I love this time of year – warmer weather, flowers in bloom and renewed energy as we emerge from winter.

I also love a good old spring clean! As we enter the second quarter of the year, spring cleaning your business can have several benefits both personally and professionally.

Spring cleaning your business can help streamline everyday operations, get clear and current with your products and services and give your business a breath of fresh air.

Here are 5 ways you can spring clean your business:

1. Spring clean your business planning

It is easy to ‘set it and forget it’ when it comes to business goals and planning for your business.

The start of a new quarter is a great time to revisit your goals, review your progress and identify your next steps – to check you are on track and moving forward with clarity and focus.

These 5 questions can help:

  1. What have I achieved so far?
  2. What are my next priorities?
  3. Are my goals still relevant? Do I need to set new goals?
  4. What are my next action steps?
  5. What support do I need?

My business planning and development coaching module or business planning and development training workshop will help you to create your next business goals and an action plan to develop your business and team.

2. Spring clean your website

It is likely that your business has changed or evolved during the last year, so your website needs to be up-to-date and showcase your current products and services.

  • Does your website clearly show your core (or new) products and service and how you help?
  • Is it intuitive and easy to navigate around?
  • Is it easy for customers to book or buy from you?

Maybe there is some content that needs to be rewritten to better reflect your business offering or appeal more to your target market.

My website review or business coaching for your website session will help to make your website work better for your business.

3. Spring clean your email

Freeing up space in your inbox will help to focus on your most important work so you can feel more in control of your workload.

Creating folders for key clients or areas of your business will help speed up the search for emails and free up space in your inbox.

Unsubscribe from unwanted newsletters and blogs (not mine please!)

While you’re clearing out your inbox, you could also do some other digital decluttering. Going through folders and files on your computer and renaming, reorganising or removing unnecessary documents will help free up physical, as well as mental space.

My email management training session or email management coaching session will help you reduce email overwhelm, gain control of your inbox and boost your productivity.

4. Spring clean your workspace

A tidy, organised workspace will positively affect your productivity and make you feel refreshed and organised.

As the saying goes, “a tidy desk is a tidy mind.”

Tidy your desk, clean your computer screen and remove unwanted bits of paper and receipts from your desk and drawers.

File paperwork into folders or an in-tray.

Add some plants or fresh spring flowers to your desk or workspace.

5. Spring clean your mindset

Mindset is key to success.

As Henry Ford’s saying goes – “Whether you think you can or think you can’t – you’re right.”

Turn niggles of self-doubt, crashes in confidence and mind monkeys into opportunities and ‘I can’ statements.

Spring cleaning your business will help to create more processing space in your brain so you can focus on the things that are important, think creatively and boost your productivity. This will help you to feel more organised, focused and ready to spring your business into action!
